The founder of Laniado Hospital The Klausenberger Rebbe Harav Yekutiel Yehuda Halberstam זצ”ל

at the darkest moment of his life, after losing his wife and eleven children in the Holocaust, he was shot on a forced death march in the summer of 1944. Knowing that treatment at a local hospital was not a possibility, he healed himself and made a vow that if he survived he would build a hospital in Israel that would treat one and all, regardless of their religion, faith or gender.

- 6 Nadav Elchanan Knoller הי”ד Master Sergeant, Nadav Knoller הי"ד the son of Eli Knoller, Director of the Supporters of Laniado, fell in battle in the Netzarim Corridor in Gaza on 26 Sivan/ July 1, 2024. He was called to IDF Infantry duty as Master Sergeant in reserves on October 7th/Simchat Torah while visiting his grandparents in the United States. He returned immediately to Israel & served over 200 days since. Nadav was 30 yrs. old, married for five years to Hadar, and they had a baby boy, 16 months old, Yaer. He was a graduate of Ariel University where he received his BA in communications and worked as a regional manager and analyst for a communications company. He left not only his wife and a child but also his father and four siblings. He was the family member to whom his dozens of cousins and hundreds of friends all turned to for advice on a wide range of things. He never complained and never judged or accepted a compliment, and never took credit. He was truly special – the best. Nadav always had a smile on his face and a joke on the tip of his tongue. He was happy, fun, handsome, charming, upbeat, selfless and caring. IT IS THE HONOR OF THE SUPPORTERS OF LANIADO HOSPITAL TO DEDICATE ONE OF THE EMERGENCY ROOM CUBICLES IN THE NAME OF NADAV הי”ד

Dr Geoffrey & Mary Jane Pollack Rofeh Cholim / Heal the Sick Award

Geoffrey (Gedalya Chaim), a physician, and Mary Jane (Miriam), a musician, made Aliyah from New York City to Jerusalem on August 31, 2016 (27 Menachem Av 5776). A year later, when Geoff was appointed Director of the newly created E.N.T. Institute at Laniado Hospital, they relocated to Netanya, a twelve-minute walk “skin to skin” to the hospital. Several years later, they are happy and grateful to Hashem to be part of this wonderful medical and spiritual community by the sea, which generously contributes, repeatedly, the necessary financial support to ensure the best care and success of Laniado Hospital. The Board of the Supporters decided to award the Pollacks the Rofeh Cholim/ Heal the Sick Award , to recognize their exemplary love, dedication and above and beyond professional leadership, to all members of the Netanya community.

Message from Nadav Chen, C.E.O. of Sanz Medical Center, Laniado Hospital

Good evening everyone and welcome Thank you for coming tonight, to once again express your support and your partnership in the construction and development of The Sheltered Emergency Hospital for Laniado . The past year was a very challenging and complex year for Israeli society, we experienced a difficult war in the south and the north. Even today, many families still have not returned to their homes in the Galilee and the Gaza Strip. Our hearts are with the hostages dying in the tunnels in Gaza, and we all salute the wounded of the IDF and the civilians injured at the Nova Festival, including our special guest, Ms Noam Ben David, in body and soul, who are on the long road of rehabilitation. Many joined the large bereaved Israeli family. Here, this evening, is a representative of the bereaved families - our dear friend, the Director of Development & Community Affairs and liaison of the Supporters Group , Mr. Eli Knoller, who recently lost his dear son, Nadav Elchanan Knoller הי”ד who was killed in battle in the Gaza Strip, leaving behind a widow and a small child, and of course the entire family . Mourning is very painful. Eli’s attendance this evening, and his work on this Gala, like every year, teaches us, first and foremost, about the greatness of his personal soul and that of his family. At the ceremony that we held recently at Laniado , to mark the 7th of October Mrs. Shira Glam , A Medical Laboratory worker of ours, and widow of First Sergeant Major Yohai Chai Glam הי”ד , spoke . She said that Eli found time and energy to reach out to her, to comfort and strengthen her, a bereaved person who lost the one dearest to him, just a few months before she lost her husband. Eli’s nobleness of soul is special, but it seems to me that he is not alone - the entire nation of Israel is showing wonderful mental resiliance. We are torn between the need to show military and civilian strength, between the duty of all of us to keep calm, to show empathy and compassion and strength. Along with the unimaginable personal and national pain. This duality is the essence of Israeli society's existence in the last year.

Message from Nadav Chen, C.E.O.

continued

I would say that this duality is the basis, the living spirit, behind the existence of Laniado Hospital for over 50 years. The brave and heroic decision of the founding Rebbe זצ”ל , who lost his wife and eleven children and in the Holocaust arose from the ashes and established a medical center in the Land of Israel, after being wounded himself. This is exactly the duality that we all feel every day, in the year of .תשפ”ה The choice is in our hands to get up and do, alongside the pain - To get up and act, along with the loss. The most significant construction and development project today in Laniado Hospital is the Sheltered Hospital for Emergency Medicine . This is a huge project, which will consist of 4000 square meters of a mbulatory hospitalization stations, surgical triage, orthopedic triage, imaging exam rooms and more. With G-d's help, we will build three underground parking floors , which will turn into an emergency hospital in dangerous situations. Our choice, to initiate this huge project, at a cost of NIS 130 million, at this time is exactly the choice Israel as a whole is currently making. We choose life We chose action We choose faith that Israel’s eternity will not lie and will not be comforted Thank you all very much for your friendship, for the long-standing partnership and for your choice to stand by our side in this very challenging and special time! A message from Ken Schwartz, Chairperson of the Supporters of Laniado Hospital

Eighteen months ago when Eli Knoller first told me that the hospital was going to undertake the project to build a Sheltered Emergency Hospital, I was OK, we are going to build a Sheltered Emergency Hospital, not understanding what that meant. After October 7th, I truly understood why we needed a hospital of this caliber. In the early days of the war we received injured from the North and the South. As Netanya was relatively quiet, we also received many evacuees from these areas with their medical issues. Our Sheltered Dialysis Department ran 24 hours a day. Then the sirens sounded in Netanya and it became quite clear that this Sheltered Emergency Hospital became emergent. In the Torah portion of Lech Lechah, that we read this past Shabbat, the Torah says, " They went to Eretz Canaan and they came to Eretz Canaan". The Chofetz Chaim says the message from this sentence is to show the importance of finishing a task that was started. We started with 2 goals for this Gala Event this evening. The first was to host 250 people or more and the second was to raise 360,000 shekels towards this project. I'm happy to report that we have received 360 reservations for this evening and have raised over 500,000 shekel. Reaching these goals could only have been met with supporters like you. I want to wish the Gala Committee, led by Rachel Shore and Sheldon Reich and the Brochure Committee led by Alan Gold and Tony Plaskow a huge Yasher Cochachem . These people and their respective committees, achieved and surpassed our goals. I want to thank All of our supporters, volunteers, and sponsors. Without you this evening could not have been accomplished. I look forward to working with all of you in the future. Ken Schwartz Chairperson Supporters of Laniado Hospital

A message from Eli Knoller, Director of Development and Community

Relations

** Year-End Letter to Laniado Hospital Supporters and Volunteers ** Dear Supporters and Volunteers, As we look back on this past year, we are filled with immense gratitude and a renewed sense of purpose, thanks to your unwavering support of Laniado Hospital . Despite the unprecedented challenges we’ve faced, particularly since the outbreak of war on October 7th , your commitment has enabled us to continue our mission to expand and enhance our services, providing essential medical care to IDF soldiers, members of the security forces, the community of Netanya, the Sharon region, and beyond. Together, we’ve achieved incredible milestones. With your generous support, Laniado opened several new, critical departments that are already making a difference in patient lives: **Underground Hospitalization Department** In addition to several above-ground missile-proof departments, these protected rooms ensure that patients receive uninterrupted care in secure facilities, even during times of missile fire. **Expanded Cardiac Care** The new second catheterization and electrophysiology room is helping us to provide timely, life-saving interventions to patients with cardiac conditions. **Advanced Gyno-Oncological Operating Rooms** Two newly opened operating rooms with the latest medical technology in Israel are allowing us to serve women in need of specialized surgical care. **Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)** This new PICU allows us to treat our youngest, most vulnerable patients with specialized intensive care, providing hope and healing to families close to home. **Protected Maternity Department (C)** Currently under construction, this 46-bed facility on our rooftop is designed with missile protection, ensuring that mothers and infants are safeguarded during times of conflict.

-12

A message from Eli Knoller, Director of Development and Community Relations

Our most ambitious project in the five-year strategic plan is the **Protected Emergency Medicine Hospital** With an estimated cost of NIS 130 million (USD $36 million) , this state-of the-art facility will transform emergency medical care for nearly 500,000 residents in the Sharon area. Scheduled for completion by 2027 , this 4,000-square-meter , fully protected facility will include 60 hospital beds, trauma and imaging centers, orthopedic and surgical ERs, and more. Additionally, a three-level underground parking area will double as an emergency hospital, ensuring continuous operation in any crisis. This project is more than just a building; it is a declaration of our commitment to provide resilient, high-quality care, even in the face of adversity. It is our “flagship project”—a national priority underscoring our determination to meet the pressing healthcare needs of our community, no matter the circumstances. None of this would be possible without your generosity, trust, and dedication. Whether you have contributed financially, volunteered your time, or supported us in spirit, your role in advancing Laniado’ s mission is invaluable. We cannot thank you enough for standing by us as we build a brighter, healthier future for Israel and its people. As we approach the fiscal new year, we ask for your continued support and partnership. We hope for a peaceful year ahead, yet we remain steadfast in our preparations for any eventuality. May we never need the protection these new facilities provide, but should the need arise, we know we are ready — because of you. With heartfelt gratitude and wishes for peace and health, be’ezrat Hashem, in the year to come, Eli Knoller Director of Community Relations and Development

- 22 NEW DEPARTMENTS OPENED IN 2024 The current Invasive Cardiology Center at Laniado Hospital serves approximately, half a million residents of the city of Netanya and the entire Sharon region. The location of the hospital, halfway between Hadera and Tel Aviv, makes the center a base for the treatment of Catheterization for many people. Over the last few years, both the city and the Sharon region have developed, resulting in a significant demographic increase. Today, the current Invasive Cardiology Center has only 2 hospital Catheterization Rooms. It is staffed by a multidisciplinary professional team with a great reputation and much experience. Therefore Laniado has added this second machine and now has a Heart Medicine Wing . This is due to an essential need to avoid the discomfort of the scores of patients who undergo long waiting times, despite the catheterization unit operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We performed 1,059 catheterizations in 2023, 20% of which were patients arriving in the middle of a heart attack, when every moment could mean the difference between life and death. Now the hospital can treat many more patients and the additional Interventional Heart Medicine Wing will make it possible to provide adequate treatment to the population in need of this life-saving care. This Interventional Heart Medicine Wing will solve the problem of lack of Interventional Heart Medicine procedures distance to other hospitals which are 20-25 miles away and in many cases will make the difference between life and death. The Interventional Heart Medicine Wing will allow Laniado to do other life-saving additional procedures.

- 23 NEW DEPARTMENTS OPENED IN 2024 Hematology Department The new birthing center includes 12 delivery rooms, a new NICU, meeting rooms, offices already active two new delivery & gynecological operating rooms. The operating rooms were built in the delivery room complex in order to allow as quickly as possible the transfer of women in various emergency situations for surgery. In addition, the operating rooms will be used to perform complex gynecological surgeries including the removal of cancerous tumors

Nearly 4 years ago , Charlie could not have dreamed he would be in this position. For all that time, Laniado has provided him with lifesaving, and life extending services. As he approached his 70th birthday on 5th October, he decided he would like to raise money for Laniado to thank them, and to allow them to save more lives. The money raised, nearly 37,000nis , will go towards equipping Emergency Room Cubicles in the new Sheltered, Missile-Protected Emergency Hospital that is being built. He has had to use the current Laniado ’s Emergency Room so often, as have friends and family.

Both Charlie and I are so grateful to my many family and friends both near and far, who have given him such a wonderful birthday present, which will allow this amazing hospital to help others, as they have helped him. We are both so grateful to everyone who contributed. (see list on following page) Charlie and Vivienne Simenoff
