Letter from the Chairman Welcome to the Rosh Hashanah Edition of the Supporters Magazine

The Missile Protected Emergency Hospital building campaign is in full swing. The war with Iran showed that it is absolutely essential that Netanya and its surrounding areas need this facility. To date, the Supporters have raised 1.5 million shekels towards this 48 million project. Our annual supper quiz was held on the 2nd of July - It was both a financial and social success and our thanks go to all participants for their support. Once again we must thank Alan Gold for providing us with many thought- provoking and enjoyable questions. Sandy Green and her committee did an outstanding job.

We are delighted to announce that our Annual Fundraising Gala Event will take place on Tuesday the 2nd of December at the 591 Event Center , Netanya and we are pleased that the entertainment will be provided by “The Solomon Brothers ”. This year we will be raising funds to equip a Trauma Bay in the new Sheltered Emergency Hospital . In support of this event we will be producing a Souvenir Brochure . The full details are on our website where you can purchase tickets for the event and place a message in the brochure. On behalf of the Board of the Supporters may I wish you Shana Tova U’metukah – כתיבה וחתימה טובה וחתימה טובה Ken Schwartz Chairman

Rosh Hashana 5786 Message from the Director of Development & Community Affairs Dear Friends and Supporters ,

As we approach Rosh Hashana and the beginning of the year 5786 , I extend to you and your families my warmest wishes for a year filled with health, happiness, and peace. May this New Year bring blessings to your homes and strength to Am Yisrael in Israel and across the world .

This year is especially meaningful as we celebrate the Jubilee Year – 50 years since the founding of Laniado Hospital in 1975! What began as a small cottage hospital on the sand dunes of North Netanya — born from the sacred vow of the Sanz-Klausenberg Rebbe, צז"ל — has, with your steadfast support, grown into a major regional medical center serving more than 500,000 people throughout Netanya and the Sharon region ! Today, Laniado operates 61 departments with 2,200 dedicated staff members , all committed to providing compassionate, life-saving care. This past year, we witnessed their devotion not only inside the hospital but also on the battlefield: dozens of our staff members from every discipline have been called to IDF reserve duty, time and again, serving on four fronts and beyond. Their absence has strained both our medical services and the spouses left at home shouldering the responsibility of family life — yet it is a sacrifice that reflects the deep commitment of our people to defend Israel while continuing to heal it . Despite these challenges, we have continued to grow and prepare for the future, with numerous self- funded projects. New Pathology Department & Research Center – expanding diagnostics and advancing groundbreaking medical research. Opening September 2025 . Maternity “C” Department – will add 46 beds in a sheltered department, to ensure the safety of mothers and newborns, proven essential during recent missile attacks. Hundreds of women from across Israel came to give birth in our sheltered delivery rooms. Opening December 2025 . New Sheltered Emergency Hospital – our most ambitious project to date, a $48 million state-of-the-art facility that will guarantee uninterrupted, life-saving emergency care in both times of peace, war and crisis. Groundbreaking is scheduled for the end of October 2025 . Our readiness is tested daily. Most recently in July, Laniado served as the evacuation hospital for victims of the terrorist ramming attack in nearby Kfar Yona, where the injured were brought directly to our Emergency and Trauma Department . Such events are a sobering reminder of why we must remain ever vigilant and ever prepared . As in past years, our Rosh Hashana online e-card campaign provides an opportunity to send holiday greetings to friends and family across the world effortlessly with a few clicks. This ye ar’s project will support the building of our new Sheltered Hospital while also bringing a smile to the spouses of IDF reservists who continue to serve far from their homes. It is a chance to combine blessing with action, and to share sweetness with those who sacrifice so much . Looking ahead, we will gather at our Annual Gala Dinner on December 2 nd at the beautiful 591 sea front venue in Netanya. The evening will benefit the dedication of a new trauma bay in the Sheltered Emergency Hospital at a cost of 750,000 NIS . We look forward to celebrating this milestone with you both in person and via an advert in our brochure journal e-book produced for this special occasion . On behalf of the patients, families, and staff of Laniado, I thank you, our devoted supporters and volunteers for standing with us during this remarkable Jubilee year. Only with your partnership, will we be able to continue to fulfill the Rebbe’s vision : to heal, to save lives, and to serve as a beacon of hope, an island of compassion, for generations to come . Wish ing you and your loved ones a Shana Tova u’Metuka— a Good, Sweet year, filled with health, joy, and peace . With gratitude, Eli Knoller

Despite the Sirens The Surgery Continued

During the siren that sounded June 17 th in the Sharon area,

about three years ago, alongside a protected Premature Baby Unit, equipped with advanced equipment. In the protected delivery rooms, natural and regular births and even caesarian sections are performed in the protected area. Ms. Eti Littig , the nurse in charge of the Neonatal Unit , said, "In 2021 During Operation Guardian of the Wall, they entered the new Neonatal Unit and we had to move premature babies to the protected area. This was the last time we did this. Since we are in a protected area, we simply close the doors and continue to work as usual. It gives the staff and parents an incredible sense of security!"

abdominal surgery was performed on a sweet premature baby at Laniado Hospital . The Team of surgeons and anesthesiologists continued the surgery, despite the

alarms that were heard, since the premature baby complex is fully protected. As you may recall, Laniado Hospital inaugurated 12 protected delivery rooms

Swift Emergency Response to Kfar Yona Terrorist Attack

Last month one morning at approximately 10:00 AM, the Emergency Department at our hospital was alerted to a suspected car-ramming terrorist attack

promptly stabilized and underwent comprehensive assessments. We are pleased to report that all are currently in mild condition and receiving continued

near Kfar Yona, just a few kilometers from our facility. In accordance with our emergency preparedness protocols, a limited mass casualty event was immediately declared. Within moments, our multidisciplinary response teams — including emergency medicine, surgery, orthopedics, imaging, and support staff — mobilized with precision and professionalism. Their actions reflected years of rigorous training and a deep commitment to patient care. Four individuals suffering from head and limb injuries were received in our shock trauma unit. They were

medical supervision. Our dedicated social work team provided full emotional and logistical support to the patients and their families, ensuring compassionate care throughout this difficult time. We commend our staff for their swift, coordinated response, and we remain committed to providing the highest standard of care to our community in every circumstance.

The Urology Department in Laniado – a combination of advanced technology and world-class expertise

We are proud to share yet another important medical technological advance in our Urology Department : the introduction of the cutting edge laser device used in the world for performing HoLEP surgery , which is

During the surgery, the excess prostate tissue is removed precisely, minimally invasively and without incisions, using a powerful laser – and the result: effective treatment, rapid recovery, less bleeding and less pain Dr. Modai , who serves as a senior physician in the department, has now begun performing these advanced surgeries at Laniado Hospital as well – thus allowing patients to undergo an innovative procedure in a public setting, without the need for private medicine and high costs. As Dr. Matan Mekaiten , Medical director of the department , said: "We in the urology department are constantly expanding – recruiting leading personnel and introducing innovative medical technologies for the benefit of our patients." This move is much more than technological progress – it represents our commitment to combining first-class medical expertise, world-class equipment, and a professional team with a huge heart. When medicine advances, the quality of life of patients also improves.

now performed in Laniado by Dr. Yehonatan Modai – an andro-urologist who has extensive experience at the famous UCLA Medical center in the USA. HoLEP surgery is intended for men suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia – a common phenomenon that makes it difficult to urinate and may lead to complications.

Distribution of Scholarships May 29 th 2025

The distribution of scholarships to the students in our Tessler Academic school of Nursing , and nurses who work in the Sanz Medical Center, Laniado Hospital , who are taking specialty courses to improve themselves and also help the hospital improve its service, took place in the Chicago Auditorium of the School. This year over 70 scholarships were given out. The hall was crowded with the students and many of the donors who had dedicated scholarships as well as many local individuals. The morning started with greetings from Paul Kutner , the present Treasurer of the Supporters who introduced Ann Homa who will be taking his position at the end of May. Then Eli Knoller , the Director of Development and Community Relations welcomed everyone

Our thanks go to Alan Gold for visiting his former Rotary Club of Edgware & Stanmore Service Fund and speaking about the hospital. They generously donated money towards the purchase of a blood pressure machine. These machines are so important to the hospital – they are the work horses of every department and used constantly. We invite all our friends to follow Alan's lead and introduce us to groups and friends to help us raise much needed funds for equipment.

Glo bal Online Auction Raises Funds for Laniado’s New Sheltered Emergency Hospital

Supporters of Laniado Hospital recently held an extraordinary worldwide online charity auction , offering a unique collection of historic Jewish, Zionist, and Israel-related memorabilia and treasures. Bidders from across Israel and around the globe competed for these rare and meaningful items, with hundreds of participants ensuring the event’ s resounding success. Among the standout pieces were autographed photographs of Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion with President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Prime Minister Golda Meir with President Richard

Nixon, President Isaac Herzog with Queen Elizabeth II, and even legendary Jewish baseball star Sandy Koufax. The auction was warmly received and generated vital funds to support the construction of Laniado ’s new Sheltered Emergency Hospital — a critical facility that will serve and protect our community in times of need. This remarkable event not only raised essential resources but also celebrated the rich history and enduring spirit of the Jewish people and the State of Israel.

Letter to the Editor

Dear Sirs I am writing to thank the Laniado Hospital for the exemplary care I received during my recent hospital stay Recently on a Friday night I was admitted having had a physical collapse at home. The attention and care I received by every member of the staff was exemplary. They conducted their function with courtesy, respect, and compassion, and clear professional competence. Explanations of function were tailored to my level of consciousness and great care was administered by all who became involved The 2 nights of my stay were a model which kept me informed and aware of progress and in an understanding of what was happening. My questions to staff were answered with clear intention of ensuring I knew what procedure they were engaged in despite my primitive Ivrit. Altogether I felt cared for, valued and important in their duties. I have every reason to think that all the other patients received the same experience. The staff were not aware of my own professional interests in care and quality. I am a retired Professor of Applied Statistics with many years of research into the quality of hospital care in partnership with doctors, nurses and associated staff. Please would you convey to the medical nursing and associated staff my sincere thanks for the care I received. In particular my wife Jennifer , who is a Registered Nurse with over 50 years' experience in orthopedics, pediatrics and neo-natal intensive care, adds her appreciation of the care given to her and our daughter. Of particular note and even with a modicum of surprise I thoroughly enjoyed the catering experience which ensured a healthy and satisfying diet. I learned that breakfast could actually be enjoyed rather than a nuisance at the start of the day. Whilst hopeful not to need to sample your care agai n, I have no doubt that what I would receive would be ‘5 star’ and would not hesitate to direct my ambulance to your gates. With many thanks and best wishes to the staff of the Laniado. I am yours sincerely Professor Leonard Goldstone

Another Letter to the Editor

Dear Eli, I felt I must write about my recent stay in the hospital. As you know you saw me in the Emergency Room , but what you didn't know was that I was hospitalized in the Surgery department where I underwent an emergency operation. I must tell you that the care and attention I received was simply outstanding. The Nursing Staff and Doctors were all kind and caring but those in the Surgery Department impressed me particularly. Everyone was so patient with me and went out of their way to find the best treatment for the painful swellings on my face as a result of a salivary gland infection that occurred after my Surgery. Everything was done so efficiently and always with a smile. What more can I say but thank you. Wishing you a long life- Ad 120 Traditionally, we wish our friends a long life, ad 120, (until 120) which was the age Moshe Rabbeinu was when he passed away. We would like to remind our friends around the world, regardless of their age or health, of the great importance of advanced estate planning. Failure to do so might allow the State to use your assets in ways you might not have wanted. We encourage our friends and supporters to apply long-lasting legacy gifts to mid-long term projects at Laniado Hospital , where we will continue to serve the People of Israel for generations to come. Two such projects planned in the coming years are the new sheltered Emergency Department (4,000 sq. meters) and the Hospital Tower (40,000 sq. meters), to be built at a cost of over $250 million. For more details on the various opportunities, please feel free to confidentially contact Eli Knoller on 052-634-5741 or eknoller@laniado.org.il The People of Israel will thank you.
