Dr. Shani Eitan - she is unique!
It's not every weekend that the #1 Hebrew language newspaper in Israel,Yedioth Ahronoth , features 1 of our staff members on the front cover... An inspiring life story: from a career in high-tech to a medical residency. Meet Dr. Shani Eitan , the new resident physician in the Pediatric Department of Laniado Hospital . She is a mother of three children, a former biomedical engineer, and now a pediatrician at Laniado Hospital . Dr. Shani Eitan joined the hospital this week, completing an exciting complete 360 degrees circle, at the place that has accompanied her for years.
When her eldest son was hospitalized in pediatric intensive care as a baby, she made a decision that would change her life - to leave a successful career in high-tech and become a doctor. As a part of the ongoing cooperation between Laniado Hospital and Ariel University , Dr. Eitan completed her entire training at Laniado Hospital - from student to intern. A unique story occurred when, during her studies in the Gynecology and Maternity Department , while practicing ultrasound, she discovered that she herself suffered from a lack of amniotic fluid, and thus she went from role of student to patient, and gave birth to her third son at the hospital. "I choose Laniado," - shares Dr. Eitan , "because here I can truly influence and make a difference. The magic of Laniado Hospital is in the human and special relationship, both to the staff and to the patients." Please join us in congratulating her and wishing her the best!
Letter to the Editor
Dear all , I would like to convey my gratitude for the fantastic treatment I received at the hospital. I was admitted to the emergency department on the evening of Friday 14th of March.
There I was met by a team of staff who not only were professional but also friendly. They worked on me relentlessly until they found out what they thought was the problem. I was then transferred to the intensive care unit of the cardiology department. Where again I was treated with the utmost care. I had a nurse that kept an eye on me all night. I later found out that she had worked that morning and had no sleep. Over the next day the decision was made to implant a pacemaker in order to get my heart to beat consistently.
All the staff were excellent and polite all through my stay. I would like to add special thanks to the following staff. Moran who looked after me in the emergency room. Avishag who was my excellent nurse in the intensive care unit. I would also like to mention from the ward a young lady called Kinneret who was just kind. I would grateful if you could pass on my thanks to the above mentioned staff. I will continue to sing the praises of the hospital . Many thanks-which is not enough. Steve Goodman .
Thank you Supporters of Laniado
